In this episode of Couch Stories, I sit down with Becky Criswell for an honest conversation about seeking God through some of life's most challenging seasons, including anxiety, eating disorders, infertility, motherhood, and seasons of doubt.
Becky shares how God has faithfully met her in both the highs and lows of life and how her faith has been shaped through struggle, disappointment, healing, and growth.
Throughout our conversation, Becky reveals three powerful truths that transformed her perspective on God and what matters most:
Seeking surrender more than control
Seeking rest more than answers
Seeking God's presence more than outcomes
We also discuss practical ways to support one another in Christian community and why authentic relationships matter when we're walking through difficult seasons.
One of the most encouraging parts of Becky’s story is her commitment to trusting God even when she has questions. She shares how she has learned that God is still who He says He is, regardless of our doubts, and that bringing our questions honestly before Him is not a sign of weak faith—it’s often where deeper faith begins.
If you've struggled with anxiety, infertility, disordered eating, motherhood challenges, unanswered prayers, or simply wondering where God is in a difficult season, this conversation will remind you that you're not alone.
God isn't afraid of your questions.
He isn't intimidated by your doubts.
And His presence is greater than any outcome you're waiting for.

There Is Power in the Name of Jesus | Living in His Authority and Purpose
Wednesday May 27, 2026
Wednesday May 27, 2026
In this episode, we dive into the power and purpose found in the name of Jesus.
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus didn’t just offer us salvation—He established His authority over every power, every dominion, and every spiritual force. Today, He sits on the throne, and His name still carries that same power.
But do we truly live like we believe that?
I share a personal experience from a Bible study where I became aware of the presence of a demon—an encounter that reminded me of a sobering truth:
We are always in a spiritual battle, whether we see it or not.
This episode is a call to wake up to the reality of that battle—but more importantly, to the authority we have in Christ.
The same power that raised Jesus from the grave… Lives in us.
So what would it look like if we actually believed that?
What if we stopped holding back and fully committed our lives to Jesus—trusting that He can work through us with the same power that conquered death?
In this episode, we unpack:
• The authority of Jesus over every power and dominion
• The reality of spiritual warfare in everyday life
• Why the name of Jesus still carries power today
• What it means to live as a light in a dark world
• A call to fully surrender and live boldly in Christ
Because there is not only power in the name of Jesus—
there is also purpose.
Imagine what the Holy Spirit could do in our homes, our churches, and our communities…
if we fully lived like we believed it.

Performance vs Position | Stop Striving and Start Trusting God (Deuteronomy 31)
Wednesday May 20, 2026
Wednesday May 20, 2026
In this episode, I challenge a version of faith that many of us have unknowingly been living — a performance-based Christianity where we feel like we have to measure up, strive harder, and take control to make things happen.
But what if that’s not what God ever asked of us?
What if our faith was never meant to be about performance… but about position?
Rooted in Deuteronomy 31:1–8, we’re reminded of a powerful truth God spoke to His people then — and still speaks to us today:
He goes before us.
He fights our battles.
He is already present in what we are walking into.
The same Spirit that hovered over the waters before creation — before the earth and sun were even formed — is the Spirit that goes before you today.
In this episode, I also share personally how this truth has been anchoring me in the middle of sickness and uncertainty around my health. Instead of striving to figure everything out or control the outcome, I’m learning to trust that God has already gone ahead of me and conquered whatever I may face.
We aren’t called to be good enough.
We are called to trust the One who created us and sustains us.
In this conversation, we unpack:
• The difference between performance-based faith and living from your position in Christ
• Why striving leads to exhaustion, but trust leads to peace
• What it looks like to let go of control and follow God’s lead
• How the Holy Spirit goes before you in every situation
If you’ve been feeling like you’re constantly trying to measure up, this episode is an invitation to lay that down and step into a faith that is rooted in trust, surrender, and confidence in who God is.
You don’t have to perform.
You just have to position yourself at Jesus' feet.

In this episode, I share a powerful message from the Renewed Wellness Retreat about the reality that we are not just physical beings — we are both physical and spiritual, and what happens in the spiritual realm deeply impacts every part of our lives.
Rooted in Genesis 2:7, we’re reminded that God formed us from the dust but breathed life into us — giving us a spirit that only He can truly transform and sustain.
Our minds and bodies can be trained, but our spirit requires spiritual transformation. And that means understanding the very real tension between who God is and the strategies of the enemy.
We talk about:
• The difference between the spiritual realm and physical world
• The attributes of God vs. the tactics of the enemy
• How Satan works through lies, repetition, and familiarity
• Why the enemy doesn’t need to overpower you — just convince you
• How our identity is shaped by what we believe
I also share personal moments from my own story, along with a powerful testimony from Lisa Jennett with Streams Studio, highlighting how God meets us in broken places and leads us into healing and truth.
Drawing from insights in The Lie You Don’t Know You Believe by Jennie Allen, we unpack how the enemy often works subtly — repeating lies until they feel familiar enough to believe. As Jennie explains, the battle isn’t always loud or obvious; it’s often quiet, consistent, and rooted in deception.
This episode dives into three common core lies many of us carry:
• I’m helpless
• I’m unlovable
• I’m worthless
And most importantly, we replace those lies with what God says is true, through Scripture like:
• Psalm 46:1–11
• Colossians 3:12–17
• Psalm 139:1–17
This is more than just “speaking truth” — it’s about living in a posture of surrender, allowing the Holy Spirit to renew your mind, reshape your identity, and empower you to stand firm in every mental, physical, and spiritual battle.
Because the truth is:
The enemy can only operate in the authority we give him
Lies only take root when they go unchallenged
And real freedom comes when we submit fully to God
If you’ve ever struggled with negative thoughts, identity, or feeling stuck in patterns you can’t break, this episode will help you understand what’s really happening — and how to walk in truth and freedom.
You were created for more than survival — you were created for transformation.

From laughter on the couch to deep moments of reflection, this episode feels like two friends talking about life, motherhood, and the ways God is working behind the scenes—even when we don’t understand the path.
Rooted in Proverbs 3:3–5, we talk about trusting the Lord with all our hearts and allowing Him to make our paths straight, even through seasons of uncertainty.
Kelly shares her journey of walking through her father’s battle with MS, cancer, and ongoing health challenges, while continuing to lead, serve, and live out her faith in everyday life. Her story is a powerful example of what it means to be blessed to be a blessing—allowing God to use both trials and blessings to impact others.

In this episode, we explore a powerful truth: redemption and restoration are found through full submission to God.
Walking through Matthew 16:24–27 and James 4:4–10, we talk about what it really means to deny your sinful nature, take up our cross, and follow Jesus. Submission can feel heavy at first — letting go of old ways, resisting the pull of the world, and giving our lives fully to God.
But here’s the truth:
The weight of surrender leads to fullness and abundance in Christ.
I also share my personal journey through what I call the three C’s: Confess, Choose, and Change.
• Confess – I made the decision to believe that God is real and that I needed Him not just for eternity, but for my life right now.
• Choose – I had to actively turn from my old life in my 20’s and decide to be all in with Jesus.
• Change – Now I live in an ongoing relationship with God, where I continue to submit the areas He reveals, and He faithfully transforms me day by day.
So many believers stop after confession. They give their lives to Christ, but don’t fully walk away from what’s comfortable. They hesitate to lay everything at Jesus’ feet, often out of fear—fear of losing freedom, identity, or the things they love.
But what we discover in surrender is this:
✨ Nothing good is lost in Christ.
✨ It is made more whole, more joyful, and more aligned with who we were created to be.
In this episode, we unpack:
• What true submission to God looks like
• Why resisting the world leads to real freedom
• How surrender opens the door to restoration and redemption
• Why following Jesus fully leads to a life of peace, purpose, and abundance
This is an invitation to move beyond surface-level faith and step into a fully surrendered, fully transformed life in Christ.
There is more waiting for you on the other side of surrender.

Restoration in Christ | Finding Healing, Peace, and New Life (Table Talks Part 2)
Wednesday Apr 15, 2026
Wednesday Apr 15, 2026
In Part 2 of our Table Talks series on Redemption and Restoration, we turn our focus to what it truly means to be restored.
This episode is deeply personal as we share our own stories and experiences of walking the path of restoration — the process of allowing God to heal, renew, and transform every part of our lives.
Restoration begins with submission to God. It requires a willingness to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives — to reveal what needs healing, to guide us in truth, and to empower us to walk in freedom.
In this conversation, we talk about:
• How the Holy Spirit helps us recognize areas that need restoration
• Why surrender is essential to healing
• What it looks like to walk through restoration in real life
• How God’s restoration is more than going back — it’s stepping into something new
Because restoration in Christ is not about becoming the “best version” of your old self.
It’s about stepping into the abundant life God has for you — filled with His peace, His presence, and a deeper understanding of His love.
If you’ve been longing for healing, freedom, or renewal, this episode will encourage you to trust God with the process and allow Him to restore you fully.
Pull up a chair and join the conversation.
